In his new role as a neo-Nazi in the upcoming sophomore season of FX’s rough and tough biker drama, “Sons of Anarchy,” Adam Arkin had to face painful memories of a friend who lost his life last year in a motrocycle crash.

“It was difficult,” he confessed. “I can’t help but think about it every time I see a motorcycle now.”

Arkin appears on 11 episodes of ‘Sons’ this season, playing Ethan Zobelle, a white supremacist who arrives to the town of Charming, Calif. to wreak havoc on SAMCRO.

The idea that Zobelle’s intentions are to destroy a motorcycle club was not lost on Arkin. In fact, it served to bolster his acceptance of the role.

“There was a kind of Karmic perfection to it,” he said of paying retribution to his friend.

Fortunately for Arkin, a self-professed “non motorcycle enthusiast,” you won’t see Zobelle on the back of a bike any time soon.

“My character isn’t necessarily anti-motorcycle,” he said, “but it’s just not part of his life.”

Sons of Anarchy returns Tuesday, September 8th at 10 PM on FX.
