‘True Blood’: Season Two Brings A New Murderous Creature, Love Triangles…and a Nudity Sock?
As if vampires and shapeshifters weren’t enough, ‘True Blood’ fans can now look forward to a brand new murderous creature in season two, as well as some sexy nude scenes that include…a sock?
At Monday night’s PaleyFest ‘09 at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, fans and critics got to preview the upcoming season and find out what’s in store for Sookie, Bill, and of course, Eric - the sexiest Nordic vampire in the land.

Inside the sold-out event, the female fans swooned and shrieked, particularly during the question/answer portion, which almost turned into a gush-fest over the cast’s handsome male stars. But Stephen Moyer seemed pretty flattered by the attention, and particularly by some of the fan’s shirts that read “Bill’s Babes” and “Sired By Bill.”
Fancast also hit the red carpet to talk to the cast of the vampire drama. Read on for the juicy bits that we, uh, dug up.
Is there going to be a Bill/Sookie/Eric love triangle this season?
“I think he’s not as interested in humans as other vampires are,” Alexander Skarsgard told us. He usually maintains a professional relationship with them. But there’s something intriguing about Sookie.”
Stephen Moyer said, “I’m not going to lie… I see those moments in the script and I’m thinking I’ll have to have a word with him. He makes Bill a little upset… f*cker.” Oh it’s so on!
Will there be more nudity on season two?
It seems like the the short answer is no. But then again, you never know with a sexy show like ‘True Blood.’ In the first season, Jason let his freak flag fly in the buff quite often. While the actor who plays him, Ryan Kwanten, doesn’t necessarily mind being in the buff (”I come from an open-minded society, so I’m comfortable with my body,”) he said his character won’t be making much use of “The Sock of Destiny” this season.
What’s the sock, you ask? It’s Kwanten’s nickname for the object that covers up a certain, uh, body part, in certain scenes, if you know what we mean.
So with Jason now self-censoring, will anyone else be nude?
According to Skarsgard, he would be happy to take one for the team. “I’m from Sweden, so I’m disappointed I’m not naked all the time. I want to put that in my contract,” he told us.
Will Lafayette be back?
Nelsan Ellis played coy about his character’s fate, but isn’t shy about wanting to keep the character alive despite his demise in the TB books. And if Lafayette came back for season two, what would be different about him? “He’d be just as fabulous,” Ellis told us. “It’s fun doing crazy stuff and not having any consequences.”
What else can we expect next season?
“Well, the serial killer is gone so people can relax,” said series writer Alan Ball. “But as we saw on the finale with Lafayette, somebody’s killing people. There’s a new creature out there. Also, there’s a missing vampire in Dallas and Eric is concerned.”
And about that creature… if you don’t want to know any spoilers about the new monster, stop reading now.
The audience was treated to a sneak peek, which included a glimpse of this new supernatural being. But we’re unfortunately not allowed to get into details. Let’s just say that this guy is 100 percent evil and has got it out for Sookie.
He’s got some gnarly claws and demonic horns, but does he stand a chance against the vampires? Guess we’ll have to wait until the new season starts.

Will there be more than two seasons?
Sure, the second season was green-lit rather quickly, but does that automatically mean an upcoming third, fourth, or even a fifth season? “As of now, there is nothing beyond season two. I personally believe the show has many years,” said Ball. “It gives me a creative freedom as a storyteller. But I don’t like to think about how the series will end. It’s just a big ball of nasty possibilities.”
Nasty possibilities? We like the sound of that.
Alan left fans with a word of advice. How do we ensure more seasons of the bloody series? “If everybody buys the DVD, then HBO will give us 18 more seasons.” Fangtastic!
