Tuned In: What’s Hot In The World Of TV

‘The Late Show with David Letterman‘ garnered bigger ratings than ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien‘ last week - the first time Letterman’s show has beaten its NBC counterpart since 2005. (When Jay Leno was still the host). Although O’Brien still had better numbers in the key demo, it was also the smallest audience for ‘The Tonight Show’ since at least 1992. Obviously, although it’s still early in O’Brien’s stint as host, this is not a good sign for NBC. Perhaps Jay Leno’s arrival in the 10pm slot in the Fall (premiering September 14th) will give O’Brien a boost.

Thursday Ratings:

CBS won the ratings game Thursday on a night that was reshuffled last minute due to specials airing that dealt with the Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett deaths. A ‘20/20‘ special on Farrah Fawcett led the way at the 10pm hour while ‘So You Think You Can Dance‘ dropped from last week with greater competition among the networks. Reruns of ‘The Mentalist‘ and ‘CSI‘ fared well for CBS, taking the 8 and 9pm hours.
