5 Hot New Shows for Upcoming TV Season

The networks announced their 2009-2010 schedules this week in New York to plenty of fanfare. History tells us most of these shows won’t ever make it to a second season, but if we had to place a bet in Vegas, it’d be on these series. Take a look at these five shows that are already generating a lot of heat:

‘Flash Forward’
Tuesdays at 8pm ET on ABC

In a mysterious worldwide event, everybody on Earth briefly falls unconscious for 2 minutes and 17 seconds in ‘Flash Forward.’ In those few minutes, everyone gets a glimpse of the same moment in his or her own future. As the people wake, the world undergoes a transformation since the people know what the future has in store.

‘Parenthood’
Wednesdays at 8pm ET on NBC

Based on the feature film of the same name, ‘Parenthood‘ follows the lives of members of different branches of the same family and focuses on the challenges of parenting in a modern era characterized by cell phones, mp3 players and social networking. Peter Krause and Maura Tierney star.

‘Human Target’
Thursdays at 9pm ET on Fox

‘Human Target‘ is based on the comic book of the same name in which a security expert goes undercover impersonating his clients in order to eliminate the threats against them. Mark Valley stars, along with Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley.

‘Three Rivers’
Sundays at 9pm ET on CBS

‘Three Rivers‘ marks Alex O’Loughlin’s much-awaited return to TV after starring in the cult classic ‘Moonlight.’ This medical drama centers on organ transplants, with each story told from the point of view of the doctor, the recipient and the donor.

‘V’
Coming 2010 to ABC

‘V‘ is a remake of the classic 80’s miniseries of the same name about the arrival of aliens on Earth who promise a mission of peace but have ulterior motives. One of several storylines revolves around Erica Evans, a Homeland Security Agent, whose troubled son sides with the aliens.
