1950’s Star Gale Storm Dies
Gale Storm, who was one of the most famous people on television in the 1950s - starring in ‘My Little Margie’ and ‘The Gale Storm Show,’ died over the weekend at a convalescent hospital in Danville, California. She was 87.
Before starring in “My Little Margie” in 1952, the actress was featured in many B movies opposite such stars as Roy Rogers, Eddie Albert and Jackie Cooper.
‘My Little Margie’ was a summer replacement on CBS for ‘I Love Lucy’ in 1952. While the show, about a widower (Charles Farrell) who was consistently perused by eligible women with his daughter (Storm) who tried her best to keep them at bay, was not popular with critics, it developed a loyal audience and was picked up for three seasons.
Storm’s last TV series, ‘The Gale Storm Show,’ ended in 1960.
