ABC Responds to Katherine Heigl’s ‘Unfortunate’ Behavior
Seems ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson been made aware of Katherine Heigl’s recent complaints to David Letterman that 17-hour shoots on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ were “cruel and mean” and that she is exposing the harshness of television acting because she would like to “embarrass” those who allow it to happen.
“I think it’s unfortunate,” McPherson told TV critics over the weekend when asked about Heigl’s comments. “People are going to behave in the way they choose to behave. There are so many people who work so hard on ‘Grey’s,’ and all of our shows, without any notoriety and those are the ones I’d be concerned about, people who feel like they’re being criticized or looked down upon.”
Seems Heigl, who plays Izzy on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, is receiving zero sympathy - from ABC brass as well as Letterman - for having to deal with such conditions.
“If you’re working for 17 hours that means you’re not dead,” Letterman said referring to Izzy’s character flatlining at the end of last season. “How much longer will you be on that program?”
“That’s what I keep wondering”, Heigl quipped.
Perhaps not for long if she keep calling her boss a sweatshop proprietor.
