An ‘NCIS’ Tragedy Looming?

Prepare yourselves “Tiva” fans! EW is teasing that there’s “tragic fate” in store for “NCIS’s” favorite twosome (or would that be Gibbs and Abby?).
“NCIS” executive producer Shane Brennan tells EW that the arc for the end of this season will focus on Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo). “They carry the last four episodes in a way that is really, really shocking, and in a way, the audience will not see any of this coming.”
If you want to know more, read on….
“You’ve got what you might want to call a triangle,” says Brennan. The reappearance of Michael Rifkin (Merik Tadros), a character introduced in the beginning of Season 6, will lead to “a triangle with very, very pointy ends. Someone’s going to get hurt.”
“Something tragic will happen to Tony,” Brennan tells EW’s Michael Ausiello. “Something tragic will happen to Ziva as well. It’s one of those arcs that has been building and building and building for so long that we decided it really deserved to be featured in a big way. It’s emotionally and physically explosive.”
Before diehard fans get bent out of shape, I’d say it’s highly doubtful the series would kill off another character, despite Brennan’s choice of the words “physically explosive.”
“NCIS” viewers were outraged when Sasha Alexander’s Special Agent Kaitlin Todd was unexpectedly shot and killed back in 2005 (the actress chose to leave the show), and just last season, the gang lost Director Jenny Shepherd (Lauren Holly).
What is interesting, however, is that the arc begins with the April 28th episode–which also serves as the introduction to the new spinoff series.
Would the producers be so bold as to break up the pairing of Tony and Ziva, and ship one of them off to the spinoff? While there has been no talk of an existing character leaving “NCIS” to anchor the spinoff, the timing of the “tragic” Tiva storyline and the two-part spinoff launch does make you wonder.
“NCIS” itself was a spinoff of “JAG” and now the legend continues. “NCIS: Legend” (yes, that’s what the new series is rumored to be called) already has a solid cast on board: Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Peter Cambor, Daniela Ruah and Louise Lombard (“CSI’s” Sofia Curtis).
