In the latest installment of Man vs. Wild, wild won. Bear Grylls, host of “Man vs. Wild” on the Discovery Channel, was injured Friday night while on an expedition in Antarctica. Reuters reports the injury sustained was unrelated to his show.
The Discovery networks announced that the host fell and injured his shoulder while taking part in an expedition to promote the use of alternative energies for his international children’s charity “Global Angels.” The severity of his condition was not released and he was last en route to the UK for treatment.
“Once he sees a doctor, we will have a better sense of the level of seriousness of his shoulder injury and the recovery time needed to get him back to his full physical activity,” Discovery said. “Bear has a strong religious faith and a loving family to help speed his recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bear as he makes the long trip back to the U.K.”
On his show, Grylls battles the elements when he parachutes into uninhabited territories each week without a map contending with poor conditions and little to no food. We’ll have to wait until he recovers for a rematch.
