When your state’s most popular export is Tony Soprano and crazy ‘Real Housewives‘ it’s no wonder the mayor of Newark takes jabs against his town personally.

Of course, when the jabs are coming from late-night funny man Conan O’Brien, posting a YouTube video in retaliation will only result in further mockery.

It all started when O’Brien joked that Mayor Cory Booker’s plan to improve residents’ health consisted of a bus ticket out Newark.

Booker responded with an internet video telling O’Brien he was banned from flying into the city. “Try JFK, buddy,” joked Booker.

O’Brien shot back with a lovely photo tour of Newark including its “thriving arts scene” — graffiti filled walls — “exciting regional cuisine” — Dunkin’ Donuts — and “world class live theater” — peep shows.

Perhaps the whole fight can be used as a promotional push for the Sundance Channel’s new series, ‘Brick City,’ focusing on Booker and life in Newark.
