Denis Leary kicked off his latest comedy tour last night at Radio City Music Hall by asking the audience for a moment of silence to honor actress Natasha Richardson, whose soul he asked God to “please keep safe and sound.” Then he quickly added, “dear God, why couldn’t it have been Sharon Stone, Bernie Madoff or Madonna going down the slope instead?”

Leary’s performance was typically raw and raunchy and left no headliner unattacked, including Octomom Nadya Suleman or want-to-be new mom, Madonna. “How many African babies does that woman need anyway?” he asked.

Leary’s acclaimed FX series Rescue Me starts its 5th season April 7 with new cast member Michael J. Fox. Of the Fox addition, Leary has said “he’s playing a kind of dramatic role with a comedic element, which is just fantastic,” adding “there’s really no weak links in our cast.”
