Is Marc Cherry desperate for more Housewives? It sure looks that way. TVGuide is reporting that the Desperate Housewives series creator announced he’d like to extend the show’s run until 2013 for a total of nine seasons. Until now, there were only plans for seven. Cherry made it known during a celebration for the show’s 100th episode on Wednesday, but according to TV Guide, ABC has yet to come on board, or the housewives for that matter.

And is it even a smart move? How many more cheating husbands, sex scandals, and natural disasters can one street take? We’ve had fires, hurricanes, hostage situations, devil spawned children, and even shot five years into the future. Apparently Cherry thinks the answer is yes, reneging on past comments he’d end the show in 2011. After inking a seven season deal in 2007, Cherry said at the time “At the end of my deal, and after seven seasons, it will be a good time to call it quits. I don’t want anyone else to run the show, and I don’t want us to fade away.”

So much for that. With possibly four and a half more years to go, get ready to watch these women move into menopause and become grandparents –as salaciously as possible of course.
