DWTS’s Latest Farewell Goes To…
Going into the fourth elimination show of this latest ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ season, it seemed certain that Monday night’s leaders, Mya and Dmitry Chaplin and Meslissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas, would be safe, and Derek Hough and Joanna Krupa, who owned the third highest score, would be asked to perform their smoking hot Lambada as the night’s encore.
Well, surprise, surprise!
Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas performed the judges’ encore. Apparently their Charleston was worth a second look.
There was another surprise, too. Tom Bergeron revealed that Jake Pavelka, a standout on last season’s ‘The Bachelorette,’ will star on the next ‘Bachelor,” starting in January.
But the bigger drama concerned which couple would be eliminated. The three lowest scores and couples most likely to be sent home were Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova, Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower, and Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya.
So imagine the shock when, after special guest Shakira sang ‘Did It Again,’ viewers found out that Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff, who blogs weekly here on Fancast, were in the bottom two. Aaron was shocked–no, make that pained.
“I’m not liking the feeling I have going into tonight,” Karina told Fancast earlier in the day. (She was still smarting from judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s seeming personal attack on poor Aaron.)
Yikes.
As for the other couple rounding out the bottom two, that news was delivered after another song from Shakira. In yet another twist, it wasn’t Louie and Chelsie. The other couple rounding out bottom two was…Chuck and Anna. The big man seemed to take it in stride.
Inside, he may have been relieved.
.
He looked even more relieved when it was finally announced that he and Anna were being bid adieu.
“I had fun,” he said. “We had a good time, we made a run at it. It’s difficult. It’s hard to do.”
His partner was generous.
“I had so much fun working with you,” said Anna. “You are a gentle giant. You are my bear and my hippo. But I loved working with you and I’m so proud.”
And Aaron? The fretful boy received a hug from Karina.
Next week, the Argentinian tango, the paso doble and a group dance to the Hustle!
