Emmy Reaction: ‘Mother’ Gets Its Due

After his show captured its first Emmy comedy series nomination Thursday, ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ exec producer and co-creator Carter Bays confirmed that next season’s first priority is to take care of the lingering romantic business between Barney Stinson (played by 2009 Emmy host Neil Patrick Harris) and Canadian broadcast-news aspirant Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders).

Yes, come September, we’re finally going to have some kind of resolution to this whole international affair.

“We do have a big story about Barney and Robin coming up that we’re pretty excited about,” Bays says. “They’re finally going to deal with what’s been going on with them the last few years.”
