Reality TV mastermind Mark Burnett (’Survivor‘) is partnering with Sony TV to turn ‘Fantasy Island‘ into a reality show, according to Variety.

Set at an exotic resort somewhere around the globe, the reality version will follow 12 contestants as they compete to become the real-life Mr. or Ms. Roarke, the mysterious character we all know and loved, as played by the late Ricardo Montalban on the Saturday night series that ran from 1978 to 1984.

The players will be responsible for making the guests’ dreams come true as they arrive on a weekly basis, and the guests will then be asked to rate the aspiring dream makers–with one of them banished from the game each week.

‘Fantasy Island’ has “all of the elements of a hit series,” Burnett said. “An exotic location, dream fulfillment, competition and, most of all, emotional storytelling.”
