Comedian George Lopez brought Day 1 of the Television Critics Association summer press tour to a bawdy close when discussing his new late night series ‘Lopez Tonight,’ which premieres this November on TBS.

On his support and friendship with President Barack Obama, Lopez said, “He called me three weeks ago and we had a very lovely conversation. I can consider the 44th president of the United States a close friend of mine.

He further went on to say, “He lives in a house that’s not his, that’s very Latino. His mother-in-law helps take care of his two kids. Come on, he’s one of us!”

And when asked if his friendship with the President would help book him as a guest on his show, Lopez remarked, “If he came to LA again with Michelle and his mother-in-law I’d like him to stop by. I’d be personally offended if he didn’t come by when he was in LA.”
