Jimmy Fallon doesn’t take over for Conan until March 2nd but he has given the world a taste of what’s to come by launching a video blog that will chronicle the progress he and the crew are making towards the big debut.

If location, location, location is the key to real estate success, then Fallon’s new home qualifies as a famous address with an impressive view. Studio 6B at 30 Rock was most recently the home of the local NBC news broadcast, but it’s the ancient history that bodes well for Fallon’s new gig as Late Night host.

No lesser talk show legends than Jack Paar and Johnny Carson broadcast their versions of the Tonight Show from the studio. And if Jimmy needs any pointers about the new gig, he can always talk to his predecessor Conan O’Brien, who is wrapping up the loose ends in the studio next door before heading out west to take over The Tonight Show.

If Fallon hopes to continue the traditions of such illustrious company, he can’t do it alone. A little help from the band is always a good idea for those awkward moments when the show first gets off the ground, and Fallon is going deep, announcing at the end of the clip that none other than “The Roots” will be his musical sidekick. The “Rising Up” Philly hip hop group has a long history of making other performers look and sound good. Things are looking up already!

Jimmy promises to file a new update every night at 12:30, until the real thing kicks off in the spring. To get an idea of the fascinating work it takes to launch a new talk show, click over to LateNightWithJimmyFallon.com and follow all the fun.

And stay tuned for more Jimmy Fallon news and the shakeup to the talk show night shift lineup.

We’ll be watching on Fancast.
