Jon Gosselin is set to break up with his girlfriend, Hailey Glassman.

This comes only a few days after Glassman painted a fascinating, complex portrait of the tarnished reality star as loving, “mentally abusive,” frustrated and confused man.

Apparently Gosselin has sought counsel from Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, the bestselling author of Kosher Sex who once advised Michael Jackson on parenting, and Boteach is telling Gosselin he needs to dump his 22-year-old gal pal.

“I have advised him to end it with Hailey,” Boteach told the New York Post’s Page Six. “It is unacceptable to be in a relationship when he is still married and has to take care of kids who are hurting. It is not a healthy relationship.”

Glassman’s interview with ‘The Insider’ earlier in the week supported Boteach’s characterization of their relationship as “unhealthy.”

.

Glassman called Jon “mentally abusive” and said she can’t handle being a “dishrag anymore.” But when questioned further on the subject of his moods, she turned defensive. “He has a lot of frustration on his plate. He has no one to talk to… Emotionally, he takes his anger and frustration out on me. I don’t think he means to but it’s just a pounding everyday.”

From her comments, Glassman seems to have tried to break up with Gosselin before, but thus far been unsuccessful.

“He just comes to wherever I am and cries to me, ‘Please I need you, I need you through all this,’” she told ‘The Insider.’ “I tell Jon all the time, ‘If you really love me then let me go, please. Let me be 22, let me have my life.’”

Apparently, though, Gosselin is now set to break up with Glassman in the oddest fashion - by announcing it Sunday night during a speech at Boteach’s synagogue.

As Boteach told the Post, “Jon will either be remembered as a man who cheats on his wife and is intoxicated by fame, or a man who has fought to redeem himself.”

Yes - that’s absolutely right. But what’s wrong with taking care of personal business in private?
