Karina Smirnoff: “I Have My Jimmy Kimmel Dress Just In Case”

I know many of you have been wondering how I’m feeling.  Thank you.  Right now, I’m better.  It’s back and forth.   Last night I was much better than Thursday, Friday and Saturday, when I honestly thought I was not going to make it.  I didn’t have any energy.  I was a walking picture of someone who felt miserable.  The show had Chelsea as a backup, but as I told Aaron, I wasn’t about to let anyone else dance with him.

OK, about last night.  I’m not talking about my health or making any excuses.  We could have done a much better job.  Aaron got very nervous right before the fox trot.  He was unable to collect and control all of his nervous energy as he wanted.

It wasn’t like our Fox Trot was bad.  We’d done better andmore energetically.  In rehearsal we did it where we were moving and breathing as one, the way it’s supposed to be done.  And then during the show, well… Don’t get me wrong.  It wasn’t like oh my God, we blew it.  It was more like, we didn’t blow anyone away like we knew we could.

Then during the samba, I had my Aaron back.  He was on.  I felt it immediately.  He was great.  The problem is, we’re now down to five couples and everyone did a great job.  Everybody is good.

I’m not feeling good about tonight.  I’m just being honest.  Last week we had the highest score and we were at the bottom. And so now - well, I have my Jimmy Kimmel dress with me just in case, let me put it that way.  But as Aaron said last night, we have loved every single moment of dancing together and we definitely don’t want to go home.  But if we do, we are going with a smile and knowing we did our best.

I’ve tried to rest up for tonight.  I slept late today.  I went to the doctor and got something for my cough.  Then I got my outfits together in case I need them.  I talked to my mom and dad.  And now I’m about to get into hair and makeup.  I’m also going to get on Twitter a little more and let all of you fans know how grateful I am for their support.   It should be a good show. We have Susan Boyle performing tonight.  Michael Buble is also coming. I think he’s amazing.

One more thing.  Some of you may have seen what Maks recently said about going back to Broadway.  He said that the show asked him to return and he wouldn’t have done it if they also asked me.  But the truth is, they asked both of us.  We were negotiating.  I was going to take the first half of the month and do it with Derek, and then Maks was going to do the second half of the month.  Unfortunately it didn’t work out for me. But for him to insinuate they asked him and not me was wrong - and hurtful.  It also wasn’t true.  The truth is, the original offer came to me and I brought him into the whole Broadway thing.  It’s weird.  I feel sorry he has to be like that.

Oh well, now you know the truth.  And now I have to go into hair and makeup.
