Kathy Griffin To Roast Joan Rivers

It often takes one funny, fiery gal to roast another - and there are no funnier or tougher gals in the biz than Kathy Griffin and Joan Rivers.

Comedy Central has announced that Kathy Griffin has been named as official Roast Master of ‘COMEDY CENTRAL Roast of Joan Rivers,’ taping Sunday, July 26th. The show will air Sunday, August 9.

The pairing will make comedic history - the network has never before hosted a female ensemble of Roast Master and Roastee.

“It will be my distinct pleasure to honor a true comedy legend.  The One and Only, The Great, Joan Rivers,” says Griffin.  “I mean, not that Pam Anderson wasn’t a comedy legend or anything… Let’s just say it will be an evening of highs and lows.  I will be roasting Joan with more gentleness and tenderness than her latest chemical peel and, on the other hand, I will give her a verbal pap smear and god only knows what I’m going to find down there.”
