Lauren Conrad is smarter than she looks. Well— at least the cartoon version of her is.

The ‘Hills‘ star, who will be portraying a fictional version of herself on the May 3 episode of ‘Family Guy,’ gave us the scoop about her animated appearance at PaleyFest this week at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood.

“The idea in the episode is that they make fun of me for being dumb,” she said. “But one character quickly realizes that it’s all just an act. “[Brian] discovers that I’m actually a genius and that it’s kind of a character I play because America likes dumb people. I think it’s a more exaggerated version of who I am, but it was kind of fun to play.”

It might have been fun for LC, but it wasn’t easy. She admits to hiring an acting coach for the role. But at least she’s got a good excuse: a lot of big words. “I’m talking a lot about history and theorems and conductors and just there’s a lot of facts. I had to say it as if it was coming to me very easily.”

When Fancast talked to Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane a few months ago, he admitted that “her stamina was astonishing.” That phrase could be taken entirely out of context, but don’t worry— he was talking about her dialogue.

So who’s got it better? Brian Griffin, for managing to nail Lauren Conrad? Or LC, for managing to hide her high IQ from America? Tell us in your comments below.
