Letterman Ratings Continue To Increase
Having an affair might have caused trouble for David Letterman’s marriage but when it comes to television ratings things couldn’t be better.
‘The Late Show‘ has seen a spike of around 13 percent, going from 4 million to 4.4 million viewers, since Letterman’s public disclosure of his affair with one of his employees and an alleged extortion attempt against the late-night host, reports the New York Post.
While the scandal might have boosted Letterman’s ratings another factor is currently in play — Jay Leno’s absence from the late-night slot has given Letterman a leg up in the ongoing ‘Late Show’ and ‘Tonight Show‘ ratings war.
Leno’s move to prime-time hasn’t been too successful for the comedian with current ratings for his new show hitting an all-time low (4.6 million), according to the New York Daily News.
After taking a break last week Letterman is back with all new episodes of ‘The Late Show.’
