‘Lipstick Jungle’ Is Not Quite Dead Yet

What’s the secret to getting bigger ratings? Why, threaten cancellation, of course. Lipstick Jungle, amid reports that it was canceled along with My Own Worst Enemy, has seen a 50 percent surge in ratings since the news of the show’s imminent demise. The ratings bump has NBC execs backpedaling and perhaps pondering whether the show deserves another shot. The series has already wrapped production on its 13-episode second season, with four of those episodes still unaired.
Only one of those remaining episodes is currently scheduled to air, and it has been an uphill battle for Lipstick after it was moved to the wasteland that has become Friday night TV.
Brooke Shields has even made statements saying that her show has indeed not been canceled yet. It remains to be seen whether she’s just technically correct as of now or if there is indeed life yet in those pricey Manolos.
