Rivers Celebrates ‘Apprentice’ Victory…Like A Grandma
It was well after midnight by the time Joan Rivers had won the epic three-hour ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ finale, finished her press, put in an appearance at the post-show party and arrived back home. How’d she celebrate privately? “By getting into bed with my son and eating ice cream,” says her daughter, Melissa Rivers. “Maybe it’s not the most glamorous celebration. But it’s very much how we are.”
Early the next morning, Rivers, 75, was on QVC, selling her jewelry. “That’s my mom,” says Melissa, who was not surprised her mother emerged victorious. “Younger people forget, but she’s a woman who broke down a lot of barriers. The show reminded a lot of people that you aren’t going to beat her. She’s going to fight like hell to win - and make you laugh in the process.”
The best part of the show for the Rivers women? “Aside from the money that went to my mom’s charity,” says Melissa, “it was when we met Trace Adkins’s wife and learned that she has bought my mom’s entire QVC collection!”
