Russell Hantz of ‘Survivor: Samoa‘ has been quite the villain so far on the show’s 19th season, and according to Star magazine, there’s a lot more to his rough exterior than just a sturdy game face and a lot of smack talk.

The married father of four was reportedly arrested four times prior to being released into the Samoan jungles to compete for $1 million.

Hantz’ first arrest at age 17 was for “resisting an officer,” and at 19, he pled guilty to “unauthorized use” after stealing a car. As he got older, the charges got more severe as he became involved with drugs and had two more arrests related to narcotics.

“Basically, Russell was rude, crude and offensive when he was a younger man,” a friend told Star. “He’d blow up at the slightest thing, and he never cared what people thought.”

Now, at 36, has Russell changed?

On his CBS profile, he claims he’s going to show “these morons how it’s done” and he “plans to play the game dirtier, smarter and more cunning than anyone can imagine.”

Watch if the Louisiana native has the law of the land right this time around on ‘Survivor: Samoa’ on Thursdays at 8/7c.
