Greatest American Dog is like Big Brother-meets-Best in Show, and so far there’s been plenty of drama. Elvis was kicked off after taking a bite of Tillman the bulldog’s eye (ouch!), and at times the owners have even tried to take a bite off each other. Recently we chatted with one of the favorites of the show Travis Brorsen and his boxer Pup, Presley. Travis is a bartender who got lucky one day while walking Presley.

Watch Travis and Presley take the top prize and win the Dogbone, on Fancast.

How did you guys get involved with Greatest American Dog?
We were just walking one day and someone came up to us and asked if we were interested in being on the show. I was like, “Sure yeah.” I’m very the typical guy with a dog; I’m not a trainer, I don’t know a lot about obedience, but I can get him to sit and stay. But in other harder areas, it’s hard to get him to focus since he’s still in kind of a puppy age.

What’s the focus of the show?
The Greatest American Dog Challenge is basically to test the relationship between the dog and their owners. It’s not the tricks they can do, but it is really to test that relationship; does it grow? Can they handle the pressure? Can they listen under pressure? So it’s a very family oriented show.

What were the obstacles you guys faced while on the show?
Percy’s main obstacle has been to focus, since he still is at that puppy age. For us it’s just concentrated on his focus and getting his energy to focus. Also being obedience and listening to the things I want him to do. In turn it’ll hopefully be good for him.

Did he make any friends?
Yeah, he’s such a friendly dog. All he wants to do is love and hug and lay with anyone. I’m not a big cuddler, so he’s always looking for a good cuddling partner.
