Defamer is reporting that MADtv, Los Angeles’ lovable but kind of soft Saturday Night Live alternative, may have been cancelled mid-season. They obtained confirmation from an inside source at Fox, who tells them, “We’re finishing out the season, then we’re done.”

However, the show’s co-creator, David Salzman, says there’s a possibility they may just change networks, telling THR “There’s a long list of parties that have called us, including a few very recently, and we’re going to start conversations with them very shortly,”

It’s unfortunate, but we can’t help but wonder if if was the 08′ election that killed the show. After all, Saturday Night Live has suddenly become de rigueur weekend viewing due to their fantastic political skits and high-profile guest stars. If only MADtv would have followed their lead.
