Zack Morris And Jessie Spano Sign On For Possible ‘Saved By The Bell’ Reunion!
It’s happening! Jimmy Fallon’s “impossible dream” for a Saved By The Bell Reunion is one step closer to fruition; Mark Paul Gosselaar, aka Zack Morris, is in!
Gosselaar stopped by Fallon’s late night chat show last night but it was no regular guest spot. He showed up in complete Zack Morris character, bleached blonde hair, acid washed jeans, and giant cell phone in tow. A cell phone which also delivered the news that Jessie Spano (or actress Elizabeth Berkley) was game for a reunion too!
“You mean a “class reunion?” Morris asked Jimmy. “Sure, I’d love to see the old gang again!” he said.
Check out the interview clip for the full update on Zack’s life post College years, where he became an actor and changed his name to Mark Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris was already taken in SAG), and hear what happened between him and one true love Kelly Kapowski before she moved on to another zip code.
It’s a huge treat for fans of this early 90s cult fave TV show as Gosselaar (or Morris, whichever you believe), maintains character throughout, even talking to the camera in his signature “time-out” move, and performs a classic “Zack Attack” song. Last month Gosselaar hinted his appearance on the show wouldn’t be “typical,” and avoided any reunion talk. Until now.
Fallon, a huge SBTB fan, has been gunning for a reunion show, since earlier this year when he created a Saved By The Bell reunion petition in honor of the show’s 20th anniversary. The addition of Zack and Jesse bring the current cast count on board to AC Slater (Mario Lopez), Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhees), Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins), and of course, Zack and Jessie.
So where does that leave holdouts Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen) and Screech Powers (Dustin Diamond)? We’re not sure, but judging from the interview, it doesn’t sound as if things are all that great between Kelly and Zack.
“One word,” he told Jimmy. “Jeff. That slimeball from the Max.”
Oh no she didn’t! Guess we’ll have to keep an eye on Jimmy’s upcoming guest rosters to hear what happens, but with the show’s star on board, it’s definitely looking good. Maybe Kelly and Screech should put Zack Attack’s “Friends Forever” song on their iPods to remind them of their priorities!
