That’s when Meet Joe Black came about, where Pitt plays Death. Yes, that Death The Grim Reaper himself, come to collect the soul of Anthony Hopkins only to strike a deal with the man. Death gives him time to get his affairs in order, while giving himself time to experience what mortal life is truly like. Of course, mortal life in 1998 consisted heavily of falling in love with Claire Forlani, the willowy mystic-eyed woman who was more recently doing time on CSI: New York. Back then, hers was the visage that could capture Death’s heart.
