George Lucas on Indiana Jones 5

After Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, one has to wonder if there are any more Indy films left in the George Lucas/Steven Spielberg/Harrison Ford triumvirate. Lucas, for one, has never shied away about talking possibilities, and here’s what he had to say about the prospect.
“It sits on the shelf there as one of 50 projects that I have to deal with. And if I can come up with a story… It’s very hard to come up with stories for that thing. You know, It’s really impossible. Because it has to be real. I has to be something that actually happened. It has to be something people know about. It has to be supernatural. It’s a really difficult research project. Which they’re researching now. You know, and last time it took 14 years. So … ”
They’d all have to agree on the story for the film, for one thing, but Lucas also seemed to intimate that Spielberg is more open to the idea of a fifth film than he was for a fourth. Perhaps the rust is now shaken off, and we can get back to some great Indy shenanigans now that we don’t have to deal with aliens anymore. Aliens don’t belong in Indy movies.
