Jonathan Rhys Meyers: Not A Good Week

It has not been a very good week for Jonathan Rhys Meyers indeed. First, the poor guy gets busted for being “drunk and disorderly and with a breach of the peace” at a Dublin airport on Sunday (what exactly is “breaching the peace”? Can you be drunk and not breach the peace? Or do they necessarily go hand in hand? Oh, those wacky Brits). Apparently, he was so bad off that several fellow passengers-in-waiting had to assist him after he was found slumped over and nearly falling out of his chair. When airport security arrived he became belligerent, particularly towards a female employee whose name he asked so that he could sue her. Somehow, I’m surprised he didn’t ask for her head.
And now we get word that his mother passed away yesterday, and it seems to be a sudden death. So what does Rhys do? He knocks back a cold one, at like 10am in the morning, and the Daily Mail catches his every sip. With the brilliant show The Tudors under his belt and August Rush opening this week, his career seems to be on the fast track to the A-list. But it sounds like the steps he’s been taking lately may lead his career down a fast track to the chopping block if he’s not careful. chop chop chop.
