News: Pixar God Bird Moves to Live-Action

Brad Bird is Pixar’s Golden Trophy God, who’s set the standard for all future animated films. Having conquered that arena, he’s setting his sights on his first-ever live-action directorial effort. He’s rewriting a John Logan script for 1908, which has nothing to do with haunted hotel rooms like 1408.
The story centers on a college student who begins to investigate the murder of his father, uncovering a web of deceit that has left the city vulnerable to the sort of fire that breaks out when the Great Earthquake of 1906 hits San Francisco.
It’s a joint production with Pixar and Warner Bros., the studio that botched its marketing efforts on Bird’s fantastic and underseen film The Iron Giant. Seriously, if you’ve never seen that film, get it now. Your kids will love it.
