News: Seth Rogen’s “Green Hornet”

So, it seems that this is finally going to come to pass - the Green Hornet movie is due out in June of 2010. /Film has a good write-up on how often this project has tried to get off the ground, but EW says it’s underway. Seth Rogen is writing a script in which he will star as a superhero.
Not your everyday superhero, though. The Green Hornet is Britt Reid, a newspaper editor by day who dons a mask and carries a gun to go out and solve crimes at night, while his badass sidekick Kato does all the fighting. Born from old radio and movie serials and a cult classic short-lived TV series from the late 60s that introduced Bruce Lee to America, it took its characters seriously while its contemporary - the Adam West Batman series - took absolutely nothing seriously. Now it looks like the roles have switched, as the current Batman films are utterly dark and brooding, while The Green Hornet movie is likely going to be a lot lighter.
