THR - Ethan Hawke, Mark Ruffalo and Amanda Peet are going to star in rookie director Brian Goodman’s Real Men Cry. It’s an autobiographical story from a guy who’s life sounds pretty interesting, considering how many times he’s been shot. “I have three bullets in me, one in the back of my head,” he said.

It’s the story of two childhood friends working as petty thieves on the streets of Boston, the setting for a lot of gritty crime dramas from The Departed< to Boondock Saints, not to mention the oft-mocked accents. Ruffalo will be Brian, conflicted between friendship and his new family with Peet.

The weirdest part of this story was this quote from Goodman: “I sat down with Mark and Ethan and told them, ‘You are two on a very short list of men who could’ve been in films 35 years ago, when men were men,’ ”

Ruffalo, I can see, but who in the world considers Ethan Hawke a man’s man? Apparently, the guy who declares that real men cry.
