Trouble on the Set of “Wolverine”

In an interesting article detailing 20th Century Fox’s less-than-stellar summer comes this tidbit that their superhero tentpole for next summer, the spinoff X-Men Origins: Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman, had some creative battles that almost resulted in director Gavin Hood being fired. It doesn’t go into detail about what the issues were beyond creative squabbles, but it sounds similar to Babylon A.D. director Mathieu Kassovitz’ complaints that Fox ruined his movie. Here’s hoping they didn’t strongarm the Wolverine spinoff into being just as bad. It makes one worry, especially since Fox is thinking of mining the X-Men for more spinoffs, or giving Ryan Reynolds his own Deadpool movie (you’ll see him in Wolverine) or even resuscitating Daredevil, likely sans Ben Affleck. Maybe they’d get Frank Miller, who cut his teeth writing Daredevil comics, to give it The Spirit treatment.
