Video: War, Inc.

So strangely reminiscent, at least in terms of casting, to the 1997 cult classic Grosse Pointe Blank that if you squint your eyes you can pretend it’s a sequel, the new satire War, Inc. once again puts John Cusack in the role of morally conflcted hitman, with his sister Joan Cusack acting as a handler for him. Dan Aykroyd is even back, this time as a former U.S. Vice President currently operating a war in Turaqistan with his own corporation. Ben Kingsley brings Cusack on to figure out how to kill a pesky oil minister in the troubled region while maintaining his cover as the wedding planner for outlandish foreign pop star (Hilary Duff bravely attempting an accent) and fending off a hot left-wing reporter (Marisa Tomei) in the process.
It’s got all the makings of a potent and funny satire, and the fact that it’s opening in limited release opposite Indiana Jones likely means it’ll be swallowed up in the undertow. But it deserves more of a chance than that. Check out all the cool stuff Fancast has about it and see if you dig it.
