She’s only 21, but if Nashville Star’s season finalist Shawn Mayer seems to speak her mind or take no prisoners like an old pro — maybe the early influence of Roseanne Barr is a factor. The newly minted reality TV star/singer let America and show judge/country music fixture John Rich (Big & Rich) know how she likes to roll… in her own unique style. From Iowa, specifically from a town of less than 50 (five-oh) people, Shawn describes herself as a “self-conscious girl” but one who knows what she loves musically. “Hey, I’ve played to tracks on Taco night for free!” Here’s what Shawn Mayer told Fancast about what she loves on TV:

All Time Favorite TV Shows:
1) Roseanne: I related to the characters on that show, and felt like it was an accurate depiction of blue-collar folks.
2) Home Improvement: Reminds me so much of my family. My dad’s a big tool guy, and thinks he can fix just about anything.
3) Will & Grace: the banter between the characters is hilarious. Great writing.
4) Salute Your Shorts: I just rediscovered this series online. Now I can’t watch it because the quality is horrible, but when I was young it was the best.
5) Saved by the Bell: It’s a classic.

Best Series Never Seen:
Smallville: Have you seen Tom Welling?! I was so bummed to hear he’s married.

Most Underrated Series:
Green Acres: if I ever hit it big I can imagine myself really yearning to get back to simplicity.
