"I like a challenge," Hasselhoff says. "That's what drives me. Although fear of unemployment also has a lot to do with it. But when I hear, 'Here's an opportunity,' I run with it. And to wind up as a part of pop culture forever, that's just awesome." - from Biography magazine, Summer 2005
"The people who still make fun of the show are unaware of what it's about. We're devoted to action, not violence. Romance, not sex. And issues, but not too heavy." - Hasselhoff quoted in People magazine, Oct. 3, 1994
Hasselhoff was arrested June 5, 2004 on suspicion of driving while intoxicated; the next day he checked himself into the Betty Ford Center for treatment of alcoholism
Hasselhoff's pay-per-view special from the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City aired on the same night, June 17, 1994, that O.J. Simpson made his now-famous flight on the Los Angeles Freeway. It was thought to cut viewership for other programs significantly.

On Feb. 20, 2003, Hasselhoff and his wife were involved in a motorcycle accident. Hasselhoff was treated for possible lower back fractures, a broken rib and cuts and bruises and his wife was treated for a fractured ankle and broken wrist.
On June 15, 2007, David Hasselhoff was awarded primary custody of his two daughters.
On March 6, 2006, Pamela Bach, the estranged wife of David Hasselhoff, accused Hasselhoff of violent behavior towards her. On March 9, 2006, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark A. Juhas ordered the former Baywatch star to stay at least 100 yards from Bach except for "peaceful contacts related to court ordered visitation" of their children.
On May 3, 2007, a video surfaced of Hasselhoff apparently intoxicated. The video showed him shirtless, lying on the floor, drunkenly trying to focus on a Wendy's hamburger in a Las Vegas hotel room. His daughter Taylor Ann, who shot the video, can be heard saying "Tell me you are going to stop, tell me you are going to stop." Eventually, Hasselhoff mumbles an answer: "Yep? Yes? Mmmhmm..." Hasselhoff issued a statement, in the wake of the leaked video, that it was released deliberately. Hasselhoff claims that it was filmed by Taylor Ann so that he could see how he appeared and acted when intoxicated. Hasselhoff's visitation rights with his two daughters were suspended on May 7, 2007.
