About Ed Westwick
British actor Ed Westwick was introduced to American television audiences with a starring role in “Gossip Girl,” the CW’s fall 2007 teen soap opera. Born June, 1987 in Hertfordshire, England, Westwick got his start with the National Youth Theater in London. Among his early roles were guest appearances on the British daytime drama, “The Doctors” (BBC, 2000- ) and the popular, long-running series “Casualty,” (BBC, 1986- ). His first U.S. appearance was on the big screen, opposite Jude Law and Juliette Binoche in “Breaking and Entering,” (2006) and then in a bit part as Alex in the acclaimed post-apocalyptic epic, “Children of Men” (2006).
On “Gossip Girl,” Westwick played resident bad boy and ladies man Chuck Bass, opposite series stars Blake Lively and Chase Crawford. The series, produced by “O.C.” creator Josh Schwartz, was based on the popular young adult book series revolving around the sexy adventures of New York City’s privileged private school set. The increasingly busy actor also found time to play the role of a bullying but protective older brother in the 2006 Sundance Film Festival favorite, “Son of Rambow,” as well as appearing in the feature thriller, “100 Feet,” playing Joey, a delivery boy who falls into a tumultuous affair with an older woman (Famke Janssen) under house arrest.
