"I made it all the way to the end, and I froze at the last audition. That's OK, because it made me realize I need to work harder" - Simpson on her "The New Mickey Mouse Club" audition to CNN.com, Dec. 9, 1999
"I've come to realize that the more I censor myself, the less people relate to me," she says. "I went through a period in my life where I kept to myself, this last year and a half. And this is the first time, as I'm making my country album right now, I've had to just lay it all out there and go to that place where I'm comfortable saying, 'Here's my world, come back in.' I've tried to fit in other shoes, and it just doesn't work out." - Simpson to Esquire magazine, May 2008
"Is this chicken or is this fish? I know it's tuna. But it says chicken of the sea." - Simpson, asking husband, Lachey to explain a can of Chicken of the Sea on their MTV series, "Newlyweds"
"There's nothing I regret about it," she says. "I mean, there are moments in all our lives that aren't being aired that we wish didn't happen. So I can't really pick out one. 'Cause at the end of the day, a lot of them have made me some money." - Simpson on exposing her personal life on "The Newlyweds" to GQ magazine, July 2005
In 2006 the Tarrant Apparel Group (TAG) filed suit against Simpson for $100 million, accusing the star of breaching her contract by failing to promote their products as agreed; Simpson reportedly signed a multi-million dollar three-year deal in 2004 to launch their range of bargain fashions but the company claims she didn't sport enough of their styles at "public events, shows and appearances."
Simpson performed in various Christian events appearing on the same bill as Kirk Franklin and CeCe Winans
Simpson remained a virgin, until she married Nick Lachey
Simpson was named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People for 2004
We're enjoying it together, and that's the best part," Simpson says. "It's not something we think we deserve, it's something we worked really hard to get. But the funny thing is, actually, we didn't work hard to get what 'Newlyweds' gave us, because that's just being ourselves. And that's the coolest thing in the world, to have success from you being you." - Simpson to Vanity Fair magazine, August 2004
