Notes on Joan Van Ark

"I walked into the Drama Society and they were holding readings for 'The Madwoman of Chaillot.' I read for one part, they gave me another. Then I got more parts. Then one day Julie Harris came to town and I interviewed her for the school paper. It was she who told me to write to Yale about attending the Drama School.

I didn't want to go to college and get a degree and all that, so I wrote the letter . . . And I was accepted! Julie Harris was the youngest female ever accepted at Yale. I was the second youngest." --Joan Van Ark in DAILY NEWS, May 22, 1995

An avid runner, Van Ark has competed in numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon. She has also demonstrated her athletic prowess on the various "Battle of teh Network Stars" TV specials.
