Notes on Paul Gross

"I always enjoy things that don't take themselves too seriously, but still have weight in them." --Paul Gross quoted in the Edmonton Sun, January 27, 2001.

"I don't think there's anyone even remotely like [Fraser] in Canada. I used to be a really mean, cynical misanthrope, and I was a criminal. But now that I'm playing this part, I love everybody. [When I first read the script] It sounded pretty goofy. [But after reading it] I thought it was one of the funniest things. But, I had been reading a lot of dreck at that point." --Paul Gross in Entertainment Weekly, November 25, 1994.

In 1999, Gross was asked to join the cast of the NBC series "ER" as well star in the David E. Kelley-created "Snoops", but he turned down both jobs, in part because he did not want to move his family to Los Angeles. He told Shelley Decker of Canada's Express (November 12, 1999): "You can't raise kids in that city. You raise monsters."
