Principal has appeared on more covers of "TV Guide" than anyone else except for Lucille Ball.

Together Principal and Patrick Duffy (playing her on-screen husband) of "Dallas" were known as the "Romeo and Juliet of TV" because their characters came from two families engaged in a longstanding feud, the Ewings and the Barneses. Once during the yearly Ewing family barbecue, Principal's character, Pam, caught brother-in-law J.R. in the hayloft making love to someone other than his wife. During an argument with J.R., the pregnant Pam fell, inducing a miscarriage. Later on, some characters insisted that J.R. had been trying to get rid of the heir who would someday compete with his own son John Ross.
