Food

Episode 5 | Season 2  (2007-2008)
(Airdate Apr 29, 2008)

Loss of biodiversity, water depletion, topsoil erosion, carbon emission has depleted conventional farming and industrial food production which in turn has increased the cost of food. Andy and Rachel Berliner of Amy's Kitchen are bringing organic, locally grown frozen and canned foods to the neighborhood supermarket. At New Mexico's Twin Buttes High School, students from the local Zuni tribe have rejected processed, Styrofoam-packed school lunches to grow their own organic produce on campus. Also in Sonoma, CA the Benziger Family Winery uses biodynamic farming to produce terrific wines while preserving farmland for generations to come.
