In order to save Piper (Holly Marie Combs) from a potentially fatal illness, Prue (Shannen Doherty) and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) break the code that prohibits witches from casting spells for their own gain. The "Awakening Spell" rescues Piper, but as a consequence several innocent hospital patients contract the dread disease.
