In the conclusion of a two-part story (originally telecast over two consecutive nights), Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) are still quarrelling over the fact that Rory did not return from her first formal dance at Chilton until early the next morning. This mother-daughter animosity threatens to ruin the upcoming Christmas holiday, especially when, after another skirmish, Rory storms out of the house. Shortly afterward, a new crisis develops when Lorelai's dad, Richard, collapses and is rushed to the hospital. As the end of the episode approaches, the only person with anything to be cheerful about is Rory's boyfriend, Dean (Jared Padalecki) -- ironic, in that it was he who more or less started all the trouble in the first place. ~ All Movie Guide
