Rory sulks in Stars Hollow following her rejection letter from the New York Times and Lorelai takes it upon herself to cheer up her daughter. Meanwhile, Luke and April's boat trip is canceled; Lane realizes she has to stay home and care for the babies instead of go out on tour; Lorelai notices that Luke's wearing the hat she got him and winds up singing to him a karaoke version of "I Will Always Love You," though she was initially only doing so for Rory's sake; and, Logan comes from California to ask Lorelai's permission to propose to Rory.
