About Hearts Island

The story, set in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1952, relates the misadventures of Johnnie Baylor, a resourceful widow struggling to make ends meet and provide for her family. In the pilot episode, Johnnie discovers that her teenage daughter, Tammy Jean, has polio.
