Jack wakes up on his back in the middle of the jungle. He hears Hurley yelling for help. He runs to find him and jumps into the water to save him from drowning. He then sees Kate lying on some rocks. He wakes her up and acknowledges that they are "back." Forty six hours earlier, Eloise Hawking takes everyone down the church stairs to a DHARMA station called The Lamppost. She explains how DHARMA used this station to find where the Island would be at specific moments in time. She then says that one window of time is currently open. Desmond interrupts and angrily accuses Faraday’s mother of wasting the last four years of his life by making him go to the island. Eloise continues to explain that they must get back to the island by taking a flight to Guam which flies over the current location of the Island. They also must try to recreate their original flight as much as they can. She then takes Jack into her office and hands him Locke’s suicide note. Eloise also tells him Locke will serve as a proxy for Jack’s father and that Jack must give Locke something of his father’s. Jack finds Ben sitting upstairs in the church. After trying to convince Jack to do what Eloise has told him, Ben leaves to “tie up some loose ends.” Jack receives a call that his grandfather has tried to escape from the retirement home again. In his grandfather’s suitcase, Jack finds his father’s shoes. He takes them and goes home. Kate is there. She agrees to go as long as Jack never asks what she did with Aaron. He agrees and they kiss. The next morning, while they are eating breakfast, Jack gets a call from a very bloody Ben who tells Jack he needs him to pick up Locke from the butcher shop. Jack goes there, finds the coffin, and puts his father’s shoes on Locke. He then takes the suicide note and puts it in Locke’s pocket, not ever wanting to read it. At the airport he finds that Sayid is being escorted onto the plane and that Hurley has bought out the remaining tickets so he can protect as many people’s lives as possible. Kate and Sun are there, and Ben shows up late with a bruised face and his arm in a sling. A flight attendant hands Jack the suicide note from Locke, saying that it was found in his cargo. With the six of them aboard, the plane takes off. The pilot makes an announcement and introduces himself as Frank Lapidus. Jack rushes to the cockpit to speak with him. Lapidus sees the survivors and realizes his plane will not be making it to Guam. Later, Jack decides to read the suicide note. It simply says that Locke wishes Jack had believed him. The turbulence starts. There is a flash of light and suddenly Jack wakes up in the jungle. He finds Hurley and Kate. They realize they are back on the Island. As they are wondering what happened to Sayid, Sun, and Ben, a DHARMA van arrives. A man in a DHARMA suit points a gun at them. It is Jin.
