Kate and Jack see Faraday get shot. They try to run, but Charles Widmore stops them. Ellie, rattled over the notion that she just killed her future son, brings them into her tent. Flash to thirty years later, Richard Alpert is approached by Locke, Ben, and Sun. Sun shows Richard the picture of everyone in 1977 and asks him if he knows what happened to her husband. Richard says he watched all those people die. Locke tells Richard they have a mission, and brings him to help "Past Locke" who has just time-jumped and been shot in the leg by Ethan. He instructs Richard on how to help Past Locke and that he needs to give him his compass. While Richard does this, Locke accuses Ben of never having seen Jacob. Time jumps and Past Locke is gone. A confused Richard starts to believe that Locke really did die. They walk back to the beach, where Locke tells everyone that they are all going to see Jacob. Richard and Ben agree that Locke is starting to be trouble. The next morning, as Locke leads everyone to Jacob, Richard and Ben voice their concerns. Locke tells them he wants to kill Jacob. Thirty years earlier, Jack talks to Ellie and Kate about following through on Faraday's plans to detonate the H-bomb and change all their futures. Ellie tells him the bomb is buried underneath the barracks where the DHARMA people live. Over in the barracks, Sawyer and Juliet are being beaten by Radzinsky and Phil who want to know where Kate went. They won't talk, but Horace realizes that Hurley must have been working with them, so they set off to find him. Hurley, Miles, and Jin are plotting their getaway when they are approached by Dr. Chang. Chang believes that they are really from the future. He also believes that he should listen to Faraday's advice about evacuating the Island. Chang goes to see Horace, and orders everyone to get on the submarine. Sawyer and Juliet make a deal to get on the sub and be away from the Island forever. Meanwhile, on the way to the bomb, Kate decides she doesn't want to be a part of the mission anymore. When she tries to leave, some of the Hostiles give her trouble, but Sayid shows up and shoots them. After hearing that they want to change the future, Sayid tells them that he killed young Ben. Kate tells him that he did not, and asks the men when killing kids and blowing up bombs became okay. She leaves. Richard, Ellie, Jack, and Sayid dive into a pond and swim through a tunnel to a cave where they find the H-bomb. Meanwhile, Sawyer and Juliet are in the submarine talking about the new life that they will have together off the Island in 1977, when suddenly a new passenger enters - Kate.
