Jack is performing the spinal surgery he told Kate about when they met. He accidentally cuts the patient's spinal cord. His father tells him to count to five so that he is not afraid and can still perform the surgery. Afterwards, Jack buys a candy bar at a vending machine but it gets stuck. He then sees Christian and tells him how mad he is at him for embarrassing Jack in front of his staff. Christian walks away, and Jacob arrives to buy a candy bar and give Jack the one that got stuck. Back in 1977, Sawyer and Jack try to talk out their disagreements but they end up fighting. Juliet runs over to break it up, now agreeing with Jack about the bomb. She tells Sawyer she knows she is going to lose him to Kate. Flash to Young Juliet and her sister being told that their parents are divorcing. Back in 1977, they arrive at the Swan Station with the bomb. Alarms sound, and Jack realizes he has to act soon. Kate changes her mind too, and decides to help Jack. Flash to when Hurley got out of prison before the Ajira 316 flight. He goes to his taxi, where Jacob is already sitting with a guitar case. Jacob invites him to get in, telling Hurley he was waiting for him. Jacob wants to know why he won't go back to the Island. Hurley says it's because he is cursed. Jacob tells him he is not cursed or crazy, he's blessed. Jacob tells Hurley to get on Ajira 316. Back in 1977, Jack gets the bomb from a dying Sayid and heads toward the drill. Thirty years later, Locke's group arrives at the four-toed statue. Richard shows Ben and Locke how to get into the statue through a secret panel. Back in 1977, Jack is spotted by the DHARMA people the Swan Station but Kate, Juliet, Miles and Sawyer show up to help him. Chang tries to shut the drill off, but the electromagnetic force has already started. He throws the bomb down the drilled hole, but it does not go off. Suddenly, the electro force takes over and begins acting as a magnet, pulling metal equipment down the hole, pinning people down, and impaling people. Juliet gets dragged down the hole by chains. Sawyer tries to save her, but she lets go of his hand so he won't get pulled down too. Thirty years later, Richard, Sun, and their group are waiting for Locke and Ben on the beach. Ilana, Bram, and Lapidus arrive with their crate. Ilana asks for Ricardos and Richard steps forward. She asks him, "What lies in the shadow of the statue." He answers her in Latin. They open the crate and reveal John Locke's dead body. Inside the statue, the person who appears to be Locke and Ben find Jacob. Jacob tells "Locke" that he found his loophole. "Locke" tells Ben to kill Jacob. Jacob tells Ben he has a choice, but Ben is upset that Jacob ignored him for so long. Ben pulls out the knife and stabs Jacobs. Before he dies, Jacob says "They're coming." Back in 1977, Juliet is still alive at the bottom of the drilled hole. She sees the bomb lying next to her, so she picks up a rock and hits it until the bomb goes off.
